SEMINARS HELP EDUCATE US MARKET ON CHECK 21
Aperta teamed with the Federal Reserve Bank and
Unisys in hosting 13 Check 21 seminars in 2007 at various locations
across the United States. At each seminar, a Federal Bank representative
gave the keynote address titled, "The Impact of the
Check 21 Law". Then, Aperta provided the audience
with a branch capture demonstration.
The seminars have been well attended by banks, savings banks,
credit unions, and remittance processors. The last seminar for
this year takes place in Baltimore on Thursday December 13. 35
people have registered for this seminar. Aperta has more seminars
planned for 2008. For more information, please contact Tim Kickham

Payment processing solution provider, Aperta, has announced record
growth for 2006.
“2006 was our strongest year in a number of areas since
our inception in 1992,” said Tim Kickham, National Sales
Director. “In the US 30 additional financial institutions,
primarily banks and credit unions, implemented our check imaging
branch capture solution. Additionally, we installed our VRPA+
remittance processing solution in many small to large companies,
some of whom also installed Aperta’s image cash letter software,
allowing them to improve funds availability and to reduce costs.”
Kickham said the new remittance processing clients encompass a
broad range of industries: bank lockbox, third party lockbox,
utilities, insurance, cable tv, non profit, student loan processing,
debt collection agency, newspaper, and local government.
As a result of its strong 2006, Aperta has increased its development
and sales teams with a view to an even stronger 2007.
“We are planning to maintain our momentum in the branch
capture arena, as this is an ever expanding market with a demand
for high quality products,” said Kickham.
Aperta has approximately 400 check processing and remittance
processing clients worldwide and is providing banks with image
solutions in North America, Central and Latin America, the Caribbean,
Europe, India, Africa, and the Middle East where it recently supplied
the image-based check truncation system for the Central Bank of
the United Arab Emirates. ”

SOFTWARE IN MAJOR UAE PROJECT
Raqmiyat, a UAE-based IT services company, has
signed up with more than 30 banks in the UAE to install the Image
Cheque Clearing System (ICCS) that goes live within three months,
a top company official said.
He said the new electronic cheque clearing system
would lead to short-term and long-term benefits for banks and
customers.
"At least 30 banks in the country have contracted
with us for the ICCS, which is about 80 per cent of UAE banks
that will be installing the new system. We are also working with
UAE Central Bank on the ICCS as the main vendor," said Tapas
Roy, Raqmiyat's chief executive officer.
"The new system will also streamline the
cheque clearing process, giving customers faster access to their
money. It would also improve system reliance by reducing reliance
on transportation networks and would also help improve customer
services faster."
Raqmiyat, part of Dubai's Al Ghurair Group, has
partnered with US-based Unisys and UK-based Aperta for the project.
Roy said the ICCS would lead to substantial cost
savings for banks as expenses incurred in archiving, storing and
transporting documents can be drastically reduced.
It is scheduled to go live in November this year.
Countries that have introduced the ICCS include the UK, Australia,
New Zealand and Hong Kong.
IMAGE EXCHANGE IS KEY IN 2006
Aperta has continued in 2006 where it left off in 2005, with
seven new clients signing up for Check 21 Image Exchange.
The broad range of businesses is impressive: Newspaper, loan
processor, utility, third party outsourcer, insurance company,
bank, and debt collection agency are benefiting from the opportunities
opened up by the Check 21 legislation. The number of items processed
daily ranges from 1,500 to over 25,000.
Aperta's Visual Remittance and Payment Application
VRPA+ has proved to be flexible and robust, at the same time
helping customers drive down the cost of payment processing.
Check 21 offers remittance processors tremendous opportunities
to make savings through reduced processing costs, reduced transportation
costs, easier handling of return items and faster access to funds.
By replacing physical checks with images, there is no requirement
to physically ship checks around the country, leading to shorter
clearing cycles and lower costs.
Images are captured on a transport, image quality is checked,
data correction and balancing is carried out before the data is
extracted to a Check 21 file. This is sent to the bank electronically,
saving time and cost.
BENEFITS
Presenting checks immediately leads to faster access to funds,
and the reduction in transportation costs can be significant,
especially for multi-site operations that can consolidate check
presentation to one bank. Additionally, images are easier to sort
and organize, again lowering costs and improving customer service.

your business.
